Dr. Ghazala Mulla (49) a Unani doctor, a researcher and HOD of Physiology at Zulekha Bai Unani Medical College and Hospital, Pune and a home maker wears many hats in her life. She courageously fought and defeated the seemingly undefeatable odds that came in her eventful life and succeeded in translating her cherished dreams into a concrete reality.

Right from her initial days in Mumbai (where she was born), she was the class topper and this trend, despite odds, continued in Junnar. ​She passed her matriculation at the age of fourteen, again a feat, with flying colours and joined Chhatrapati Shivneri College with Science stream in Junnar.

​Her child hood dream to become a doctor and serve humanity persuaded her to join Z.V.M.Unani Medical College, Pune in the year 1986. At that time the college was in its infancy and there were numerous teething problems and lack of teaching faculty. Eventually, each student, as a part of ‘Group Studies’ considering the versatility in his/her subject, came to each other’s help by teaching his/her favourite subject to other students! This was innovation at its best!! Ghazala was good at Physiology. So she taught physiology to her batch mates.

It indeed was a day of celebration for her entire family when she passed her BUMS and got the degree of a doctor, a dream that her father cherished for her but was not there to witness and celebrate.
